Himeji Castle, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.
Himeji Castle is a national treasure and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
I had always wanted to get an image of this location and to go inside for a closer look. Sadly, the structure was under renovation until March of 2015. When an opportunity came up to return to Japan in 2018, I immediately added Himeji to the itinerary.
On the day of the visit, I was also blessed with perfect weather and an incredible sky to match the pure white exterior of the castle. The whimsical clouds are straight out of a Miyazaki piece.
