Mount Fuji as seen from the shores of Lake Kawaguchiko, Yamanashi, Japan.
This image of Mount Fuji came with some heartache attached. As you may know, Mount Fuji is known as the “shy mountain” for a reason. On my first visit to the area the mountain was shrouded in clouds despite the weather forecast. I spent an entire day getting to the location and setting up only to have to tuck tail and head back to Tokyo soon after sunset.
My JR pass (train pass) was expiring in a few days and I did not want to give up on getting a photo of this iconic Japanese landscape. I headed back the very next day and was graced with a the clear sky you see before you. Needless to say, I was ecstatic and relieved.
